The mirror serves as an object, or rather a space, between the observer and myself. I am using it to reflect on society reflecting on my apperience. It is hard to stay uninfluenced to peopl‘s comments upon it. In the end, we are also part of the system. It takes a lot of selfrefletion, unlearning, and a curridge to become immune to that. When i look at my avatar in the mirror i can obsereve it in a calm manner, hear the thoughts of the society, and stay beyond. Or I think so.
The work was inspired by the painting “Self-Portrait in the Convex Mirror” by the Mannerism-era painter Parmigianino.
